masugami

Privacy policy

Version 2026-09-06

You can play masugami without an account. We use information to run the game and online services, understand how they are used, improve the experience, and measure how people discover masugami. This policy explains the information involved and the choices available to you.

Who we are

Nimessa Ventures operates masugami, including this website, the browser game, and the iOS app. We are based in California, United States. Contact support@mail.masugami.com with privacy questions or requests.

Service operation and securityRequest time, path, status, referrer, IP address and other network metadata; hashed identifiers for abuse limitsGoogle Cloud and Supabase process operational logs to deliver, maintain and protect the service. We use aggregated website counts to understand use and reliability. Requests to our providers also reveal network information, such as an IP address, needed to receive and respond to them.
Optional app usage reportingPseudonymous installation and session identifiers, completed puzzle events, and campaign detailsWhen reporting is configured and you choose Share usage information in Settings, PostHog receives these events to help us understand gameplay and campaigns. They do not contain your name or email, but pseudonymous information is not the same as anonymous information.

Your choices

App usage reporting is optional. Choose Share usage information in Settings to allow it. Turn it off to stop future events and remove the local reporting identifier. Events already received by the service are handled under the retention and privacy request procedures below.

You can keep playing without signing in. Signing out stops that account from syncing on the device. You can turn local reminders off in Settings or manage notification permission in your device settings. Sharing a result is your choice; the service you share it through handles the information under its own policy.

Game Center is optional and provided by Apple. If you use it, Apple handles that activity under its own terms and privacy policy. Game Center records are separate from your masugami account.

Analytics and measurement

We use service logs and usage information to understand gameplay, identify problems, improve masugami, and measure visits and campaigns. Optional app reporting currently sends the events described above to PostHog only when it is configured and you turn on Share usage information. Campaign links may contain a campaign code that helps identify where a visit came from.

We may introduce additional analytics, performance monitoring, or campaign measurement on the website, in the app, or in emails. These features may use cookies, pixels, or similar technologies to record activity such as visits, feature use, email opens, or link clicks. Before introducing them, we will explain the information collected, its purpose, the providers involved, and the controls that apply. Where permission is required, collection will wait until that permission is given. Where the law permits limited measurement without consent, we will provide any required notice and way to object.

Agreeing to the Terms of use, signing in, or joining the email list does not by itself give permission for optional tracking that requires separate consent. Your existing reporting choice does not give blanket permission for new uses.

Browser storage and privacy signals

The browser saves game preferences, progress, and sign in information for features you choose. The current browser game does not install an analytics cookie or create a browser analytics identifier. We will explain any new optional browser measurement and its controls before introducing it. Clearing browser storage can remove local progress and sign you out.

Do Not Track does not change the essential storage or service processing described here. Global Privacy Control is a request to opt out of certain sales or sharing of personal information. We honor it where applicable law requires. These signals do not turn off the storage needed to play or sign in.

Advertising and information sharing

We currently do not sell personal information or share it for advertising based on your activity across different businesses. Analytics used to improve masugami and measure our own campaigns is described above. Advertising or measurement that links your activity with information from other businesses is not part of the current implementation.

If we introduce that kind of advertising or measurement, we will update this policy and provide the required notice, permission request, and choices before it starts. This includes Apple's tracking permission when applicable and any required rights to opt out of sale, sharing, or targeted advertising. We will honor applicable browser signals and protections for children and teenagers.

How long information stays

Local progress stays until you remove it, clear browser storage, or remove the app and its data. Device backups may retain a separate copy under your backup settings.

Account records and synced progress stay while your account is active. Deleting the account removes it and linked progress from the active account database. Backup copies expire through the provider's backup cycle and are restricted to recovery, security, and legal needs. A restored backup must have deletion requests applied again before it is used.

Launch confirmation links expire after 24 hours. Unconfirmed signup records are removed within seven days. Confirmed subscriptions stay until you unsubscribe or the list ends. We keep the minimum suppression information needed to honor an unsubscribe request for as long as the list operates. Unsubscribing does not delete your game account.

Support messages and operational records are kept only while needed to answer requests, investigate problems, prevent abuse, meet legal obligations, or resolve disputes. Retention depends on the record's purpose and the configured service retention period. Contact us about a specific record or deletion request.

Optional usage events are retained while needed to understand gameplay and campaign performance, subject to the analytics service’s configured retention period. Any new measurement feature will have a retention period appropriate to its stated purpose. We review continued need and handle requests to delete identifiable events through the privacy contact below.

Deleting an account and requesting information

Use Delete account in Settings to remove your game account and linked progress from the active account database. Progress saved on your device stays there. Your launch email subscription, Apple records, and records held by other sign in providers are separate.

You can ask us to review, correct, provide a copy of, or delete personal information we hold about you by emailing support@mail.masugami.com. You can also ask to withdraw consent or stop a particular use. We may need to verify your identity before acting. We will explain if we cannot fulfill a request because information is needed for a legal obligation or another permitted reason.

Depending on where you live and the law that applies, you may have additional rights, including objection, restriction, portability, an appeal, or a complaint to a privacy regulator. Contact us to exercise a right or appeal our response. We will not penalize you for exercising an applicable privacy right.

Children and families

masugami is a general audience puzzle with content appropriate for children. Local play is available without an account. The launch email list is for people ages 13 and older. Where local law requires a parent or guardian's permission, they should subscribe instead.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without the permission or other legal basis required by law. Parents and guardians can contact support@mail.masugami.com to ask about a child's information, review or delete it, or stop further use. An ordinary reporting toggle or email confirmation is not a substitute for verified parental consent where that is required. If we learn that information was collected without the required permission, we will stop the affected use and remove the information unless the law permits us to retain it.

Email subscriptions

Joining the launch list is separate from creating a game account. Confirming your email subscribes you to masugami updates, generally about every two weeks, and a launch announcement. Use the unsubscribe link in an email or contact support to stop them. Requested account messages are separate from marketing subscriptions.

Service providers and international processing

We use service providers to run the features described above. Information can be processed in the United States and other locations where those providers operate. We limit access to information needed for the service and require appropriate contractual protection. Where applicable law requires a transfer safeguard, it must be in place before the transfer.

We may disclose information where required by law or reasonably necessary to protect people, secure the service, or establish or defend legal claims. Providers processing information on our behalf are limited to the agreed purposes and applicable legal requirements. Any different use by an advertising or measurement partner must be disclosed and have the required legal basis and choices before it begins.

European and UK privacy rights

Where European or UK data protection law applies, we process information needed to provide the account and sync services you request to perform our agreement with you. We rely on legitimate interests to keep the service secure, prevent abuse, and answer support requests, after considering your rights. The current optional app reporting uses your consent. For additional analytics or measurement, we will identify an appropriate legal basis before collecting information. Legitimate interests may support limited service measurement after we assess its necessity and your rights; they do not replace consent where consent is required for cookies, similar technologies, or the use of personal information. We rely on consent for marketing where required, and on legal obligations where we must keep or disclose records.

You may request access, correction, erasure, restriction, or portability where applicable, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. You can withdraw consent without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal. You may complain to your local data protection authority, including the Information Commissioner's Office in the UK. We normally respond to these requests within one month; if the law permits more time, we will explain why.

Transfers outside the UK or European Economic Area require an applicable safeguard, such as an adequacy decision or approved contractual clauses. Contact us for information about the safeguard that applies to your information. We do not use solely automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects on you.

Changes to this policy

We update the version date when this policy changes. If a change materially affects how we use personal information, we will provide an appropriate notice and obtain any consent required by law. Contact support@mail.masugami.com if you would like an earlier version or have a question.
